therapy for Lasting Change
I offer depth-oriented psychotherapy at my office in Ojai and virtually throughout California.
I strive to find a unique approach for each person who comes to my office and meet when exactly where they need to be met. In my experience, it’s an essential starting place for new understanding and experiences to unfold.
A Modern Take on Deep Work
We live in a fast-moving world, with less and less time available for ourselves. But the need to be tended to hasn’t gone away, if anything, we’re more hungry for it. Therapy is one of the places that privileges time spent with ourselves, time spent in reflection, and time spent with another who is curious about our uniqueness.
Although the times of laying on the couch 5 times a week are (mostly) gone, I found that integrating psychoanalytic principles, developed out of a desire to understand another more deeply, into a form that fits modern living is some of the most useful work I do.
Our psyche is a remarkably clever system. Anxiety, depression, relational dissatisfaction and trauma triggers are signals sent to us when we need to pay attention. In a world that’s moving fast, it’s easy to miss when parts of ourselves have gone unheard and unnoticed for too long. The symptoms tend to surface when we’ve strayed too far from who we are meant to be.
In our work together, we will listen to what the symptoms are trying to say, notice the nuanced ways you deal with challenges, trace how and when you learned to handle things that way, and develop a broader range of tools to respond to what life brings your way. A deep familiarity with oneself and a greater sense of empowerment, resulting from successful therapy, lead to a shift in perception about the world around us. Rather fixing things outside of ourselves (aka changing others) we begin to change our response them (aka taking charge of our own life). This is a single most important ingredient for a lasting, sustaining change.
For some people such change is achieved with once weekly treatment. Depending on the severity of your suffering, a more frequent therapy may be be advisable to address the underlying issues. I invite you to schedule a complimentary consultation if my approach resonates.
A Bit About Me
I received a Master's Degree in psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Following that, I completed my training at Valley Community Counseling Clinic, one of the most respected applied training clinics in psychoanalytic technique in Los Angeles.
This comprehensive training encompassed foundational concepts of psychodynamic theory, contemporary approaches to complex trauma & PTSD, couples & partnerships therapy, and LGBTQ+ affirming therapy.
Additionally, I am trained in somatic techniques, as I believe the body expresses what the mind can't always articulate. Listening for both facilitates an integrated understanding that honors both your intellectual insights and your embodied wisdom, often uncovering truths that thinking alone can't access…
Let’s work together
Starting therapy is a big step, and finding the right therapeutic fit matters deeply for the work we'll do together. I offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation so we can get to know each other a bit and explore whether working together feels right.
